Balaji Temple
Today, I had visited Sri Venkateswara Temple in Bridgewater, NJ. The temple is good and the statue is a bigger one as like Tirupati.
Thanks to my friends to take me there.

Heavy snore burns more cal
Washington, Dec 16 (ANI): The heavier your snores are, the more calories you burn, that's the conclusion of a new study, which claims that snoring is an healthy habit.
According to the study, heavy snorers burn more fat than light counterparts, even while they are awake and resting.
The study has been published in the December issue of Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
Sleep-related breathing disorders include snoring, pauses in breathing (sleep apnea) and other conditions in which airways are partially or completely obstructed during sleep.
"Obesity is a major risk factor for the development of sleep-disordered breathing, and changes in body weight are associated with changes in sleep-disordered breathing severity," the researchers write as background information in the article.
"It is unclear whether weight gain is simply a cause of sleep-disordered breathing or whether sleep-disordered breathing may be associated with alterations in energy metabolism that, in turn, lead to weight gain and complicate the treatment of these two disorders that often coexist," they added.
Body weight is based on the balance between energy or calorie intake and expenditure, the authors note. Resting energy expenditure, or the number of calories burned while resting, is one component of total daily energy expenditure.
To reach the conclusion, Eric J. Kezirian, M.D., M.P.H., of the University of California, San Francisco, and colleagues assessed the resting energy expenditure in 212 adults with signs or symptoms of sleep-related breathing disorders.
Participants' medical history was taken, and they underwent a physical examination, sleep monitoring through polysomnography and determination of resting energy expenditure using a device known as an indirect calorimeter.
The calorimeter measures oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production, which can be used to determine resting energy expenditure in calories per day.
Among the 212 participants, the average resting energy expenditure was 1,763 calories per day. Several measures of sleep-disordered breathing severity were associated with increases in resting energy expenditure. For example, those who scored the highest on a scale of apnea and hypopnea (disruptions in breathing) had a resting energy expenditure of 1,999, while those who scored the lowest expended an average of 1,626 calories per day resting.
Resting energy expenditure may be affected by responses of the nervous system that occur during sleep-related breathing disorders and has been previously shown to increase when sleep has been disrupted.
"This study advances our knowledge concerning sleep-disordered breathing and metabolic rates, but it does not define the connection between sleep-disordered breathing and body weight," the authors write.
"Body weight is determined by the balance between energy intake and expenditure. Although the findings of this study suggest that sleep-disordered breathing increases energy expenditure, it ignored two important aspects of this balance," they added.
"First, sleep-disordered breathing often results in fatigue and other decrements in daytime functioning that can limit physical activity. Second, this work does not specifically incorporate the emerging evidence that suggests that sleep-disordered breathing may alter energy intake, whether through hormonal or other mechanisms. Future research considering the effect of sleep-disordered breathing on body weight can include the effects on energy intake and expenditure," they said. (ANI)

Thanks Giving
It was like a crazy to grab the deals on the Thanks giving day. I understood that the malls will be very crowdy.
Me and my friends went to malls to roam around and to grab the stuff if we can.
a. Wall mart - nothing great deal items left
b. Best Buy - some are left in the deals but not useful for me
c. Target - nothing great deals left
d. Kohls -tried to get some shoe as we like it. But we understood the deal will be about $20 and after sometime got to know that those shoe were about $40. Then dropped to buy.
e. Circuit City - The deal items are almost gone. But tried to get the Cam corder (good one) and stood in the Q as directed by one of the sales executive. But another executive told that, no more stock on that too. Oops, all hopes are lost.
f. JC Penny - Not much can be purchased
g. Old Navy - I had purchased a T-shirt for about $5 as that suits to my swetter.
h. Sears - Nothing I had purchased
i. Camera shop - I had asked for the cam corder and understood that the stock was empty and they told me to get it in a day or two as they will get the new stock. Hope to get this atleast :)
j. A Dollar shop: just roamed there but all most all items are for about $1.
I wasn't make my self to wake up by early hours to grab the deals. Anyways, people have got good deals...

Hooters Restaurant
Funny.. things...
I went to Hooters restaurant with my friends to have dinner there. I found that the bearer are in half nude and no male bearers in that restaurant. Seems to be that is very common in US.
We had some chicken stuff and came back and some of my friends are not happy with the servings.

Knowledge Test
I was been trying to prepare to get the Driving license from New Jersey since a month. Finally, I am prepared to attend the test tomorrow.
The links which I had prepared are given below.
- http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/manuals/index.html (Home page)
- http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/manuals/chap_01_quiz.html (Excercises)
- http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Licenses/sample_knowledge_test.htm (Sample Test)
- http://www.skillfuldrivingschool.com/sample-test.html
Now, with the last link, I got to know that I can only take the road test after 3 months of passing the knowledge test, which is really yelling me (as my project tenure gets closed by mid/end of december). Even though, I am ready to take the knowledge test and get prepared for the road test even 3 months time is there. Donno, by that time, whether I will be in either New Jersey or US or else...
If I am in New Jersey only, this test result will be useful for me. If not, hahahahaha.. hahahahah... fun.. fun... I WILL BE JUST LOOSING the fee of the TEST .. seems to be $10.
Assumption: Lemme consider in the different way, I donot take the knowledge test now as project closure will be in another month. By end of dec, I got the project for another 6 months in New Jersey itself. So, by Jan, I had appear for the test and need to w8 till APR'09 to appear for ROAD Test. Unnecessarily, I will be loosing a month time instead of $10. Which is so costly than the $10 amount. So, Finally decided to appear for the test. (I had already lost a month by now by thinking the previous way..... :) )
Moral: TIME is more VALUABLE than the MONEY in Hand.

Hitachi 1TB SATA Harddisk
HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000 HDS721010KLA330 (0A35155) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
I downloaded a piece of software from Hitachi that let's you change the APM (advanced power management) settings of the drive, It comes factory set to "disabled", but none of the other settings work any better.
2. This drive seems to get tangled up in temporary
USB connections (e.g. memory stick, MP3) and then when you 'safely shutdown' the USB device the computer loses all visibility to the Hitachi. Only a power off reset clears this. What the heck?
We need to leave the computer on all the time because of Media Center needing to wake up and record shows, but now this drive refuses to go into standby mode, spinning all the time - very frustrating. It worked perfectly with just the boot drive.
Loss of drive visibility when USB devices are removed is maddening.
Ramp load design increases shock protection and power savings
Thermal monitoring and fly height control enhance reliability
Three low-power idle modes boost power efficiency
Silent seek acoustics achieve ultra-quiet operation
Host/drive authentication for hardware security
Remark in my Leadership
Today, I had asked my colleague to come to office (after office hours) in India to finish of some tasks due to time difference as I am in New Jersey. Which is pretty bad and a remark at my manager skills.
We should always try to manage the work with in office hours and be professional.
Don't ever be a selfish in work atleast (but in regular life).
